The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31-24 on Sunday, thanks to a stellar performance by their star receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb caught nine passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns, including a spectacular 75-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter that gave the Cowboys the lead for good.
Lamb shows why he is the No. 1 receiver for the Cowboys
Lamb, who wears the iconic No. 88 jersey that was previously worn by Cowboys legends Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant, showed why he is the No. 1 receiver for the Cowboys. He displayed his speed, agility, and playmaking ability throughout the game, making difficult catches in traffic and breaking tackles after the catch.
Lamb also showed his hunger and passion for the game, as he was seen on the sidelines demanding more targets from his quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott obliged, as he targeted Lamb 11 times, more than any other receiver on the team.
Lamb said after the game that he feels the Cowboys can be a better offense and a better team if he gets the ball more. He also said that he respects his teammates and trusts Prescott to make the right decisions.
“I just want to win. I want to help this team win. I know I can make plays when I get the ball in my hands. But I also know we have a lot of weapons on this team, and Dak is a great leader and a great quarterback. He knows what he’s doing out there. I just try to be ready whenever he looks my way,” Lamb said.
Lamb’s performance opens up opportunities for other receivers
Lamb’s performance also opened up opportunities for other receivers on the Cowboys, as the Rams defense had to pay more attention to him. Brandin Cooks, who joined the Cowboys in a trade from the Houston Texans in the offseason, had his best game of the season, catching six passes for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Cooks said that he enjoys playing with Lamb and that they complement each other well.
“He’s a beast. He’s one of the best receivers in the league, and he’s only in his second year. He makes my job easier, because he draws so much attention from the defense. He also helps me out with tips and advice on how to run routes and get open. We have a great chemistry on and off the field,” Cooks said.
Jake Ferguson, the rookie tight end from Wisconsin, also benefited from Lamb’s presence, as he caught four passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Ferguson said that Lamb is a great teammate and a great leader.
“He’s always encouraging me and motivating me. He’s always positive and upbeat. He’s also a great leader. He sets the tone for us with his work ethic and his attitude. He’s always hungry for more. He inspires me to be better,” Ferguson said.
Lamb helps Cowboys improve to 5-2 and take control of NFC East
Lamb’s performance helped the Cowboys improve to 5-2 and take control of the NFC East division. The Cowboys have a two-game lead over the Washington Football Team, who are 3-4. The Cowboys also have a favorable schedule ahead, as they face the Detroit Lions, the Atlanta Falcons, and the New York Giants in their next three games.
Lamb said that he is happy with the team’s record, but he is not satisfied. He said that he wants to keep improving and help the team reach its ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl.
“We’re off to a good start, but we’re not done yet. We have a lot of work to do. We have to keep getting better every week. We have to keep playing as a team. We have to keep feeding off each other’s energy. We have a lot of talent on this team, but talent alone is not enough. We have to play with passion and purpose. We have to play for each other. We have to play for this city. We have to play for this star,” Lamb said.
