Halle Bailey, the star of the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, has had enough of the speculation about her rumored pregnancy with rapper DDG. The 23-year-old actress took to Snapchat on Saturday to address a fan who said she had a “pregnancy nose” and asked her to “leave me the hell alone”.
In a video that was reposted by The Shade Room, Bailey said: “If I see one more person say something about my nose one more time, it’s gonna be hell to pay. And you know why? Cause I am black. I love my nose. [What are you] concerned about my nose for? Leave me the hell alone!”
Bailey did not confirm or deny the pregnancy rumors and only showed her face in the video. However, her response sparked more speculation among fans who noticed her breathlessness and her choice of clothing.
Halle Bailey and DDG’s relationship timeline
Bailey and DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., have been dating since last year. They made their relationship Instagram official in March 2022, after being spotted at Usher’s residency in Las Vegas in January 2022.
Bailey told Essence in November 2022 that she had been a fan of DDG’s YouTube channel since 2015 and that he messaged her later. “I’ve been a fan of his for years,” she said. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”
She also gushed about their romance to British Vogue in April 2023, saying: “Experiencing deep love for the first time in my life is something I feel has opened a whole new world for me creatively. What it feels like to love someone other than your family, like somebody you may not have known two years ago but now they’re the center of your world.”
Halle Bailey’s fashion choices fuel pregnancy rumors
The pregnancy rumors about Bailey started in August 2023, when she appeared on DDG’s livestream and fans noticed her fuller figure. The rumors intensified in September 2023, when she attended the MTV Video Music Awards in a long and flowy dress that could hide a baby bump.
An onlooker told Page Six that Bailey seemed to be careful when interacting with others and taking photos at the event. “Halle stayed away from the pink carpet so she would not be photographed, and when she was inside, she was very mindful in the way she gave hugs, and who she gave them to,” the source said.
Bailey also wore a baggy outfit that included an oversized hoodie and sweatpants when she went out with DDG in Santa Monica, CA in October 2023. She told Us Weekly in September 2023 that she wanted to “switch [her style] up a little bit and get out of the princessy looks” and lean into “baggy streetwear”.
